Thank you for supporting the "BUY ONE GIVE ONE®" project, which delivers the same number of Carry the Sun lights as you purchase to people in need.
From August 21st to 27th, we held the first SDGs experiential program, "Journey to Deliver the Sun," for 7 days. Two users who had purchased in the past and Landport staff visited the border region of Thailand and Myanmar together to deliver the lights directly!
We visited Mae Sot, located about 400km northwest of Bangkok, Thailand, on the border with Myanmar. This area is home to many Myanmar refugees who have fled the escalating military coup, as well as the Karen ethnic minority.
A total of 624 Carry the Sun units were delivered to Umpiem Camp, which houses approximately 9,000 Myanmar refugees, as well as migrant schools attended by refugee and ethnic minority children, private organizations providing medical care in conflict zones, and one of Thailand's largest slums.
The first "Journey to Deliver the Sun" was a wonderful trip that brought many smiles and fulfillment to both the participants who delivered the gentle light to illuminate people's lives and the children who received them.
