Urushi-touho Araki
Urushi-touho Araki is a historic shop on Nanao Ichibansugi Street, founded in the Kaei era (1848-1854).
They handle traditional crafts from Ishikawa, such as Wajima-nuri, Kutani-yaki, and Yamanaka-nuri, which have been passed down as traditional culture.
<What is Wajima-nuri?>
Wajima-nuri products are completed through a system of complete division of labor.
The process involves wood shaping by a wood master, undercoating by an undercoating master, mid-coating by a mid-coating master, polishing by a polisher, and topcoating by a topcoating master.
The decorating is done by a chinkin master (gold inlay), a maki-e master (sprinkled picture), and a ro-iro master (polished finish), with a total of 124 steps.
◆Care instructions: In general, please refrain from using dishwashers or dish dryers for lacquered products.
When washing, use lukewarm water with a neutral detergent and a soft sponge.
After washing, wipe with a soft cloth.
However, lacquerware is sensitive to dryness and direct sunlight, and prolonged exposure to light can cause deterioration.
When not in use for an extended period, wrap it in a soft cloth or paper and store it in a low-lying area of the room.
