On Saturday, January 17th, in Shiba Park, Tokyo, with the dazzling Tokyo Tower as a backdrop, CARRY THE SUN® created a luminous approach, spelling out "1.17" and the word "tsumugu" (to weave/spin) with a flame of hope that was brought from Kobe. This heartwarming display lit up the hearts of the gathered people.
Thirty-one years have passed since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, which inspired the creation of CARRY THE SUN®. This year, once again, memorial events were held simultaneously in Kobe and Tokyo. As the earthquake survivors age, "Tsudoi" (Gathering), which focuses on transferring the torch to the younger generation, was managed this year by an organization of current high school and university students who have experience in volunteer activities in the Noto Peninsula. They wove together the spirit of mutual aid, nurtured precisely because Japan is a country prone to disasters.
Disaster prevention information was also shared at the venue, drawing attention to CARRY THE SUN® as a daily preparedness item.
